From flowerbossa:

Dr. Toyoshima had kindly given us his express permission to repost his article. In this short time, many BYJ fans have already given their support by giving donations, gifts and warm comments on his blog. He said that comments are always appreciated by the babies' families and medical staff, so please do not hesitate to show your support. AND please feel free to leave a comment here on my blog in any language you choose!

豊島勝昭先生のブログ 「ペ・ヨンジュンさんのNICU訪問から1年!がんばれ!小さな生命(いのち)たちよ」より

From Dr. Katsuaki Toyoshima ‘s Blog
“Ganbare!! Chiisaki Inochitachiyo
( Fight!! You Precious Small Lives”)
2011/4/5

This is Katsuaki Toyoshima of Kanagawa Children's Medical Center's from the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

At the out-patient clinic, I heard a little girl’s voice calling “Sensei~ (doctor)" so I turned around. It was the (adjusted age) one year old Chii-chan’s older sister came running towards me. Chii-chan herself and her mother ran to me too.

Chii-chan was born 4 months early, weighing a bit more than 600g, and was on the brink of death as she fought for her life in the NICU. Dr. Tanaka and I attended to her. Her big sister was “a good strong girl” waiting outside the NICU, while her mother tended to the baby. She seemed to like me from then. I’m trying to recruit her saying “ I hope you get to know this hospital even more and come back to work here when you become big girl.”

Many of the so-called overworked pediatricians and nurses had the experience of coming to hospitals when they were very young, accompanying their sick siblings. And through watching their parents and medical staffs, they often come to desire to work in this field. Some may take pity on these children for having to live with a sick brother or sister, but on the other hand, you may say that they are privileged to have had the opportunity to know what “kindness” and “care” is all about.

Now, Chii-chan is beginning to walk, but a year ago, she was still in the NICU.

She is the baby that appeared on TV, when Bae Yong Joon-san who as introduced in the “24 Hour TV” charity program etc. donated incubators to us, and had come to our hospital to show his support to the patients.

Tomorrow will mark a year from then. I think I never imagined that Japan will be hit by an earthquake a year ago.

With encouraging events like BYJ-san’s visit to our medical center, I think I had a vague feeling of a bright future that the situation of NICU would improve.

When he came to visit us, BYJ-san went around to see each baby and their families, listening intently to what they had to say and gave them strong encouragement.

When I asked him “ why did you make a donation to the NICU?” the following was his answer:

“Children are the future for all of us”.

Last year he had donated to the NICU, but this year he has made another contribution appropriate for the particular situation (the recent earthquake). I truly felt that he is a serious and kind person.

His words, “giving incubators to the children is about all I am able to do…” also left a strong impression on me.

I told him, “I am grateful for your donating these incubators, but what I would appreciate even more is that if your fans in Japan who are many in number, will observe your behavior of doing what you say you can do, and if that will lead to their support for NICU and the children in the medical centers, that “heart” will be a far greater gift then an “object” such as an incubator. This is something I also told Shuuichi Murata-san of the Yokohama Bay Stars (baseball team) who contributed to the “Kyuji Kikin 救児基金 (save the children fund)”.

If any of you Bae Yong Joon-san’s fans support the objective of our fund, we would appreciate it if you would make a donation for the sake of the children.

The size of your donation does not matter. To have as many people as possible come together to show they care, the babies, the families and medical staff who are doing their best even in the aftermath of this disaster will be greatly encouraged.

On Bae Yong Joon-san’s incubator, there is a gold plate as seen in the photo. It seems that it gives much encouragement to parents and grandparents of the babies who are Hallyu fans.

When the infants’ temperature is low, we use an incubator which is box-shaped, but once their temperature is stabilized, we change it to an open-type incubator which resembles an open car that has a removable lid.
It is a high performance incubator which has the capability of adapting to the child’s growth and temperature, and one incubator can function as two of them. In the future, Japanese NICUs may not be able to obtain many of these types.

But I am ready for the reality that we are entering an age that the issues we faced before the earthquake “we don’t have enough NICU beds, facilities, staff…” will not be easily solved after this disaster.

A year ago, I felt that “no matter how hard we try at the medical center, we don’t have enough things, oh someone do something about this”… But having experienced the earthquake I think I have strongly come “to appreciate the things we have and that things we have left, rather than cry over what we do not have”.

In this age when the economy will probably decline, the enhancement of NICU will no doubt be difficult, but I am reaching a conviction that I will not give up.

By thanking what we have, being grateful for the warm thoughts of the people who are willing to support us, making the most of what we have and what is left… Even if we do not have more in “quantity”, by improving the “quality” we can unfold our own ability to the fullest. And a feeling is building in me that no matter what the circumstances are, I want to save the children of Kanagawa Prefecture. We too will do our best, so we hope that together, each of you in your own way would support the medical care that will protect the children who will be taking on the role of reconstructing our country. May we ask for your understanding and support?

A Thank You message for BYJ from Onpu Sama

From onpu-san- Thank you Yong Joon-ssi and All BYJ Family!

English translation by Flowerbossa (thanks sis)

Message from onpu-san-

We human beings are terribly helpless in front of natural disasters which occur out of the blue.
It is a reality that is too cruel to be put down as a test.
All I am able to do at this time is to accept this reality.
Yong Joon-ssi’s thoughtful, heartfelt warm message and the generous donation he made as an expression of his feelings…..
I cannot say how much they lifted our spirits!!!
And the kind, encouraging support and cooperation from BYJ family all around the world…
Your sympathic warm hearts give us much comfort and strength in this time of sorrow and suffering and we are thankful that you are lending us your hand.
A man cannot live alone.
When we think about each other and help one another, we will always be able to see the light.
We cannot go on grieving forever.
I too from this place would like to share the hurt and sorrow and continue to think about what I can do.
It shall take time, but I will not lose hope and move forward to recover and restore this country.
Yong Joon-ssi and BYJ family around the world, please continue to remember us in your prayers.
I hope the whole world will be at peace.
Arigato gozaimasu. Thank you very much.

The Yonsama that I met *words in bold*

*Female Narration*

Participating in the 24 Hour Television last year.
Also making an appearance in the drama 「Dream High」produced by Bae Yong Joon
Even Bae Yong Joon has expectations for this next generation Hallyu star, Kim Hyun Joong
What kind of person is the Yonsama that you have met?

Hello, this is Kim Hyun Joong *in Japanese*

Bae Yong Joon Sunbae gives everyone the impression that he is a very perfect, secretive person right?

But he is actually a very humanely and humorous person.

Saying interesting things that makes one slip… *laughs*

Anyway he is very sincere
Taking care of me like I’m his younger brother

As what everyone has feel about him
as someone who do not reveal his mysterious, personal side,
When you meet him you will understand about him full of humanity
And feel his friendliness

The most surprising part is his radical self management
And I also feel that he is an impressive person for his passion towards his work

My wish is…
Though fans probably would not want it

but

I wish for him to marry a wonderful woman. *laughs*

This is the audio desk which I wanted to have most, so I hesitated to leave. Designer Han Seong Jae’s work. He currently studies wooden furniture at Hongik University Graduate School. His idea is amazing.

I think I have an eye.
Because I heard that Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon ssi already made a contract to buy this furniture.
Its price is 5,500,000 won. Somehow, I feel like it is inexpensive, because it’s worth that much.

suehan: The blogger didn’t indicate when BYJ visited the exhibition, but she posted this picture on March 25th. I read some tweets saying BYJ bought some of Chae’s works and the exhibition was held privately in Gangnam-gu in Seoul.
At Chae Seong Pil’s Exhibition.

Let’s take a breath with these two close people between the pictures of Chae’s works. ^^
The one on the left is close to me personally through wine rather than through his publicity
He can stay up all night talking about wine. No comment!^^
He was heart-broken about Japan’s recent situation.
The artist, Chae Seong Pil makes us feel comfortable and familiar because of his round moon like face. (hehe)
Attorney Pyo is not in the picture.

Some Updates from Keyeast about BYJ

Much thanks to bb ♥ for the updates she shared @ Loveyongjoon that she just received direct from KEYEAST today.

ABOUT WURI YJ’s HEALTH

KE: He is getting better than back then. But as you probably know, whoever suffers from neck injury has to care and tend to it consistently (*bb: believe they’re referring to the therapy sessions, etc). But you don’t have to worry too much about that. He is in good condition.

ABOUT YJ’s NEW WORK

KE: YJ wants to meet his family on the big screen or TV too. But for now, I’m sorry to tell you that nothing has been fixed yet. But something’s gonna be fixed sometime in the future. Do look out for updates through the homepage.

ABOUT THE FAMILY PHOTO-TAKING PROJECT

KE: Unfortunately, this project will have to be suspended for a while. There are many reasons you know, eg. BYJ’s health, Dream high, Japan’s earth quake etc etc. We’re gonna re-start the project as soon as we possibly can. But at this point, it’s hard to tell when it will be started again. I’m sorry.

ABOUT Tea Loft @Lotte Hotel

(*bb: i suppose many of you would have read SUEHAN’s BLOGS POST about the closure of Tea Loft? so sad, so sad, so sad…! i really loved going to Tea Loft whenever i visited seoul! the strange thing is the notice about the closure has not been put up anywhere, and in the GORILLAKITCHEN SITE, the contact info and operating hours of Tea Loft are still there…)

KE: Unfortunately Tea Loft has closed as you know. However, the homepage has not been updated yet. Tea Loft was operational up until 31st Dec 2010.

[Info]Tea Loft is closed

Seen this info from Suehan's blog, sad but perhaps they have another plan.

suehan: I found some postings on the internet regarding closing of Tea Loft which was located on the 14th floor of Lotte Hotel in Seoul. I was curious about it since it received excellent evaluations from Koreans and I also heard that their business was doing well. Some Korean fans in byjintoronto confirmed its closing. I believe it’s been closed as of December 31st, 2010.

Kim Soo Hyun was touched

A repost from: Suehan's blog ( thanks sis)
Trans by: Suehan

[News]Kim Soo Hyun, “I was touched by the multi-vitamin present from (Bae) Yong Joon hyeong.”

NTN 2011-03-18 19:08

Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon’s student, actor Kim Soo Hyun belongs to Keyeast like Bae Yong Joon. He was a part of the main cast who created “Samdong-ache” by appearing as a genius music student, Samdong, in the drama, “Dream High” which Bae Yong Joon and Park Jin Young participated in. That’s why his relationship with Bae Yong Joon is different than with the others.

Kim Soo Hyun hasn’t forgotten to talk about Bae Yong Joon at the recent interviews with this company. He hasn’t appear in the scenes with Bae Yong Joon in “Dream High,” not even one scene.

“I haven’t had any scenes where I appear with him in ‘Dream High.’ So, I’ve never had a chance to meet him in front of the camera. But he continuously encourages me. He sent me text messages one by one while monitoring the drama. Most of them critiqued the scenes. I really appreciate that.”

Kim Soo Hyun shared one episode related to Bae Yong Joon with us with a big smile. “One day, Yong Joon hyeong said that my face was tired looking. After that, I went to the shooting site and saw his present of multi-vitamins. I was touched. I’m still taking them.”

Bae Yong Joon encouraged Kim Soo Hyun. Bae Yong Joon is somebody Kim Soo Hyun relied on.

“We had a conversation after the drama ended. He asked me about my feelings, and I answered with a positive response. Yong Joon hyeong said, “This is the most important time. You should share your love with others once you receive love from others. Please don’t forget modesty as well.” He helps me a lot.”

Kim Soo Hyun called Bae Yong Joon “Yong Joon hyeong” during the interview. " I was curious because Bae Yong Joon is a major shareholder of Keyeast".
He said, “I was scared when I saw Yong Joon hyeong for the first time. Managers scared me saying, “Be careful.”, as a joke. I introduced myself to him nervously. But he responded nicely by saying, “Oh, I know you.” Since then, I opened my mind little by little and began to call him hyeong. Actually, once I asked him how I should call him because of his high position, CEO. But he said, “Call me as you would like” (laugh).

Kim Soo Hyun learned a lot from Bae Yong Joon by being near him. So he didn’t miss Bae Yong Joon’s name in discussion of his role models.

“I like Christopher Waltz in the movie, “Inglourious Basterds” I wanted to become an actor like him right after I watched the movie. Of course, Yong Joon hyeong is my role model in Korea. I’d like to learn his ability to be perfect.”

He attached wings on his back with “Dream High” It’s Kim Soo Hyun whom we expect today, rather than yesterday, and tomorrow rather than today, since he is preparing perfectly to fly farther than anybody else with those wings.

[Repost] KBS TV is currently discussing “Dream High” season 2.

[News] KBS TV is currently discussing “Dream High” season 2.
Original : http://twssg.blogspot.com/ (thanks sisters)

KBS is currently in the works of finalizing a deal for another season of its hit drama series “Dream High.” According to KBS officials, new season of musical TV series “Dream High 2” is already in the early planning stages for its second season, under the goal of airing it as early as January 2012.

Before the first season of “Dream High” got aired, many questioned its quality of acting and storyline, as it involved a lot of idol stars with little acting experience. But as the show went on, the idol star cast displayed improved acting skills and the plot turned out to be quite interesting, resulting in the show garnering an average TV rating of 15.7%, which was the highest rating in the Monday-Tuesday prime time slots.

"We are looking into a new season of 'Dream High' in a positive light. We can't confirm the news since everything is in its planning stages," an official from Holym said.

"Dream High," which for two months this year starting early January, was about the dreams of students who attend a performing arts school aimed at cultivating celebrities.

The show starred Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun, idol singers Bae Suzy from girl group miss A, Ham Eun-jung from T-ara, Ok Taecyeon and Jang Wooyoung from boy band 2PM and songstress IU.

The series was a joint production between top entertainment firms KEYEAST and JYP Entertainment. It brought in viewership ratings in the 18 to 20 percent range and has been sold to several countries in Asia including Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and Cambodia and Thailand.

[News] AB - "The composure of a successful man"

Trans by: Suehan @ Suehan's BYJ blog (thanks a lot sis)

Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon’s photos became a topic.

[Reporter Kwak Seol Rim]

Bae Yong Joon
showed his sensible and mild style for the first time since he recovered from a ruptured cervical disc, which recurred during the recent drama shooting. These are the photos of Analdo Bassini’s summer fashion, which Bae Yong Joon works as a main model, with the concept of “the composure and romance of a successful man”.

Through these photos, Bae Yong Joon showed his mythical and sensible mood, well-matched with warm sunshine at a vacation spot. It was shot by the best photographer in Korea, Hong Jang Hyun. Bae Yong Joon showed “the composure of a successful man," which is the concept of the advertisement, perfectly in a casual jacket and suit. It is evaluated that he presented a new fashion guideline.

It’s said that Bae Yong Joon received praises from his staff for his young look image, which can’t be estimated by his age and slim body, consisting of only muscle.
