voice: Morioka City, Iwayama Lacquer Art Museum’s lacquer dry room stores lacquer works by Bae Yong Joon–san who is famous as Yon-sama.

Bae Yong Joon-san is planning to publish a book on beauty of Korea and beauty of Japan.

Mr. Jun Yong Bok of Iwayama Lacquer Art Museum met with BYJ in Seoul and was called on for cooperation.

JYB: "This time I would like to tell Japanese people Beauty of Korea correctly."
As I am a person working hard in Japan, I was touched to hear it.

voice: And Bae Yong Joon-san stayed in Morioka from 26th of last month(February) till 4th.
Bae Yong Joon-san even cut his sleeping time to study lacquer, he had created various works.

This ceramic vase is covered with lacquer.
Mild roundness of pottery and lacquer shines in black.

Picture work called “Sea Romance” is decorated with beautiful gradation of colors.

Also, red is brushed dynamically in this work and looks very interesting.

JYB: color shades and gradation are difficult unless you work really hard.

Seeing the works coming out very well, I am happy to be able to teach him,
I believe this was possible because he wishes to bridge between Japan and Korea.

voice: Bae Yong Joon-san plans to call on Mr. Jun regularly and will continue to create lacquer work.

Bae Yong Joon-san’s work will be displayed at Morioka’s Iwayama Lacquer Art Museum upon it’s renewal open at end of May.
(note: renewal open is scheduled for 1 August.)

emcee: BYJ was secretly visiting Morioka.
He has also visited Morioka and Miyako.
Next time, we would like to meet him directly.
