Bae Yong-joon school opens in Sri Lanka

The school in Sri Lanka, which Bae Yong-joon donated 100 million KRW in order to restore, has been completed.

The hallyu star donated a total of 300 million KRW, to help fund the restoration of earthquake and tsunami damaged cities in Sri Lanka and other Indian Ocean coastal areas. Of the 300 million KRW, 200 million KRW was dedicated to aid the victims of the earthquake by providing food, relief aid supplies, temporary shelter and temporary playground for the children, for a span of 6 months. The remaining 100 million KRW was used to fund the restoration of the middle school in Sri Lanka, damaged by the tsunami.

According to World Vision, Bae Yong-joon’s donations helped resolve the restroom problem of the middle school in Weligama, Sri Lanka, building one boys restroom and two girls restrooms for the students. In addition, for the shortage of classrooms, an additional 10 classrooms were built, with four out of the ten classrooms being used to teach special subjects such as dance, music, English and home economics. The hallyu star also provided backpacks, school uniforms and school supplies for the entire 563 students enrolled in the school.

When Bae Yong-joon was asked how he felt about having a school built in Sri Lanka, in his name, the actor stated:
"I wanted to return all the love I received from those in Asia by giving back to many more people, which is why I decided make a donation to take part in the World Vision project. I’m proud but even more grateful that the project turned out so well and to see the little children so happy."

How are you, everyone?

It has been long time.

Rain season will be over soon, hot days are approaching. Summer, 2009 – I believe it will be hot summer days for DA staffs.

Last week, all family and DA staffs received happy news from Bae Yong Joon-san. After one year and three months, his Japan visit is fixed, staffs are keeping busy and happy every day. Staffs in every area are working hard to bring joyous and touching event for everyone.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at Tokyo Dome in September, Bae Yong Joon-san is having very busy but fulfilling days preparing for the book to introduce Korea and dubbing for Animation WLS.

We ask you for your warm support, as we will do our best to make the long-awaited meeting with family the great memorable time.

[Staff diary]

I would like to report you about dubbing site of Animation WLS. The dubbing work for Anime WLS started from May this year.

Bae Yong Joon is challenging to be a voice actor for the first time and playing the role of Junsang after seven years. He is completely absorbed in Jung sang in order to re-stage the emotion from those days.

Although, director gives an okay and says it’s good enough, he would say “Enough is not good, it has to be perfect.”

Bae Yong Joon would repeat again and again till his voice would get hoarse. Staffs at the site are very surprised to see the passion in Bae Yong Joon.

Choi Jiwoo-san is also challenging the voice acting for the first time but she is also doing so well, dubbing works are coming out smoothly.

Ryu Seung Soo-san, who is a good friend of Bae Yong Joon in private life, did a great ad-lib at the recording and excited everyone at the studio.

This time, part of Chae-lin and Sang-hyuk are played by new actors, Lee Se Na-san and Kang Yo Hwan-san. They have worked very hard not to cause trouble to other actors, they have watched the drama for more than 20 times and studied the drama before joining dubbing work.

Bae Yong Joon, Choi Ji woo-san and all staffs are working very hard together to bring that excitement of Winter Sonata.
