Translated in English: Suehan

Two powerful men who represent the entertainment industry will work hand in hand.

Bae Yong Joon is a top Hallyu star and the real owner of a big entertainment company. Park Jin Young is a famous composer, producer, and singer. Two men have been working for the preparation of the drama “Dream High (Writer, Park Hye Ryeon and Producer, Lee Eung Bok)” for two years and will hold a press conference on December 27th before its airing.

Bae Yong Joon and Park Jin Young will introduce the drama in front of the media and broadcasters on that same day. It draws attention from broadcasters since it will be a good opportunity for them to listen to two persons’ point of views who are leading the entertainment industry, not only for the introduction of the drama.

Someone related to “Dream High” said, “They are the producers who find and train the stars and even drama has similar contents. They will explain the story of the drama and share their experiences in the real life.”

Park Jin Young was more active than Bae Yong Joon who almost didn’t make any appearances since MBC’s drama “TWSSG” in 2007. Officials related to the entertainment industry say that his appearance for the “Dream High” press conference is an “exceptional decision” because he didn’t hold a press conference before the broadcasting of his recent work, “TWSSG”.

Someone from his agency, Keyeast said that “On December 14th, he will attend the “Smile Project” at Tokyo Dome in Japan to help the children in Asia. He will start the preparation work for the press conference after he returns from Japan.”

“Dream High” will start its airing on January 3rd, 2011 as KBS 2TV Mon-Tue Drama and it will talk about the story of students who dream of becoming top stars at the Kirin Art School. New actor, Kim Soo Hyun and Taec Yeon of 2PM took main roles. Idol stars including the singer IU (who is a high school student), Eun Jeon of Tiera, and Suzy of Miss A will appear in it.

Along with them, Bae Yong Joon and Park Jin Young, who planned and produced the drama, will appear in it as the supporters who help the would-be stars

Cover design for English version is complete, English version goes to printing at last.
English title and cover photo has nice taste.
Won’t it look good to read the English version sipping a cup of coffee…

Our long journey of creating translation of Ha-Na-Yo is finally coming to the end.
Started writing in 2008, publishing event, sales of Korean and Japanese version in September 2009, and finally after a year creating foreign translation version is completed.

My gratitude to “Ha-Na-Yo” which took me to a long silent journey and to all the readers…
And if not for the author who created this “Ha-Na-Yo,” I could not have met such a wonderful work…
Thank you very much!

“A Journey in Search of Korea’s Beauty” will be published in English, going on sale in the United States in late December and then in Europe, starting with Germany, in January.

“We received numerous inquiries regarding the publication of the book in English after the book was released in Korea last year. The book will guide foreigners on the past and current traditions of Korea,” an official from publication house Hollym Corp., Publishers was quoted as saying.

The book, containing photographs of various cultural artisans and introductions to Korean culture and travel locations, was first released in September last year and has been printed in Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese.

It has also been made into a television documentary showing Bae’s travels through a video featuring the photographs and writings from the photo essay.

◎ About the Book
Unfledged yet Earnest Record of a Journey in Search of Korea’s Culture: “A Journey in Search of Korea’s Beauty” was a yearlong project that Bae Yong Joon undertook in order to learn more about traditional Korean culture from the unfledged yet earnest point of view of one Korean, and to record in a down-to- earth way what he learned and felt in the process. He chose 13 subjects he has been interested in out of the traditional Korean culture and folded into six categories. This book is intended not only for foreign readers who would like to learn more about traditional Korean culture but do not have easy access to it, but also for Korean readers as well who are in search of this country’s beauty.

1. Staying: In this chapter, the author introduces Koreans’ staple food, including bap and kimchi, and emphasizes the beauty of hanbok, the traditional clothing, often quoted as beautiful lining. Not only that, he focuses on colors of the hanbok and guides the readers to the world of natural dyeing he has experienced.

2. Leaving: Along with 10,000 year lasting lacquer craft and 1,000 year lasting hanji (the Korean traditional paper), we learn about traditional pottery making and about Buddhism that holds crucial part of Korean history. The writer meets artisans and monks to seek craftsmanship and courtesy that handed down through ages.

3. Letting Go: On an empty site, once enjoyed great honor of the great Kingdom, we reconsider past and present and make plans for future.

4. Contemplating: King Sejong the Great hoped for all the people to be able to read and write. We recollect dreaming King’s invention, hanguel, and tangible assets from National Museum of Korea.

5. Returning: Compared to world famous wine, Korea’s traditional wine takes no lower position. We take a look at traditional liquor and hanok, the traditional Korean housing which is built based upon human engineering.

6. Leaving, Once Again: The last chapter contains beautiful photographs taken by Bae Yong Joon during his journey.

Leny: How I wish I could have a copy too.
