[Repost Trans] Photographer Yonsama's Trip Essay of Korea

Again I lifted this translation from Suehan's blog (thanks again for helping us understand the article)

[One Scene] Photographer Yonsama's Trip essay of Korea

Hangeore 2010-02-26 18:16

[Hangeore] Gods of Four Direction (suehan: 四方神) and The Image of The 12 Earthly Branches (suehan: 十二支像) are carved just like characters in a cartoon in the stone rail with familiar feelings. Many of the fierce animals’ head are facing Geunjeong Palace (suehan: 勤政殿), so I can feel that they’re guarding rigorously. After examining their direction precisely, it might be interesting to accuse those who’re facing wrong direction. They have the look of a stern Confucian culture, but there are many humorous aspects in the detailed decorations. The aesthetic tastes and optimistic aspects are noticeable since these characteristics were allowed to be build for the Palace. (Page 290-291, Journey to Discover the Beauty of Korea)

Release in May, Bae Yong Joon 3D at Tokyo Dome’
It will be released all over Japan including Tokyo and Osaka.

Actor, Bae Yong Joon produced 3D movie and it’ll be released all over Japan.

In May, Bae Yong Joon will release a movie, ‘Bae Yong Joon 3D at Tokyo Dome’ in Tokyo, Osaka, etc in Japan. This movie is a work which reformatted the lives of two events, animation ‘Winter Sonata’ and travel essay ‘Journey to discover the beauty of Korea’ which were held at Tokyo Dome in Japan last year. A person related to Bae Yong Joon said, “We will meet audiences at all of the movie theaters which are equipped to show 3D movies. It’ll be released in a bigger scale than moderate Korean commercial movies that were imported to Japan.”

Recently, Bae Yong Joon was inspired by the 3D fever which came with the success of Hollywood blockbuster movie ‘Avatar’. He plans to build his management company as a culture contents company in the future, he produced ‘Bae Yong Joon 3D at Tokyo Dome’ for the 3D movie as warming-up. The person above added, “About one hundred thousand fans gathered at Tokyo Dome at that time. But there were more fans that couldn’t come. Fans will see him closely through the 3D movie.”

Keyeast became a profitable company last year and Bae Yong Joon wants his ambition of developing a specialized culture contents company to seriously come true. The drama ‘Dream High’ project which connected JYP Entertainment to BYJ’s company in the early part of last year will be under way. Another person of Keyeast explained, “The challenge to produce 3D movies is one of their plans they want to create various products in the future.”

Yonsama' Tokyo Dome event to show in Japan's theaters

Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon at the Tokyo Dome event in September 2009 [KEYEAST]

Three-dimensional footage of Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon's Tokyo Dome event from last year will be shown in theaters throughout Japan, according to his agency on Thursday.

The "Bae Yong-joon 3D in Tokyo Dome 2009", a 90 minute-long live video from the event, will open in some 100 3D theaters on May 22, KEYEAST announced in a press release.

"Viewers will be able to relive the event by seeing it on the large screens of 3D theaters with high-quality sound," an official at KEYEAST was quoted as saying. "We expect it to be a special experience for viewers and move their hearts at the same time."

The presentation, filmed by six 3D cameras at the site, will feature live shots from the two-day event; the premiere party for the animated version of his hit TV series "Winter Sonata" on September 29 and the promotional event for his photo essay “Discovering the Beauty of Korea” the following day.

The much-hyped event attracted some 90,000 fans to Tokyo Dome, who showed up to see Bae and his "Sonata" co-star Choi Ji-woo, and was broadcast live via satellite in theaters around the country.

The 37-year-old actor shot to mega-stardom in Asia with the success of 2002 KBS TV series "Sonata" and gained a huge following in Japan in particular, where he earned the nickname "Yonsama".

His photo essay "Discovering" contains self-taken photographs of various cultural artisans the actor met during his year-long travel around Korea. He authored the book in order to introduce Korean culture such as food, tradition and travel locations.

Bae is currently doing voice-over work for the animation version of "Sonata", which currently airs on Japan's DATV.

Animation originated from drama coming into home theaters is visualizing....

ZDNet Korea 2010-02-22 16:18

[ZDnet Korea]In recent home theater, dramas originated from animations like ‘Princess Hours (aka Goong)’, ‘Boys over Flowers, and ‘God of Study’, etc. showed popularity continuously. Solid contents were based on the entertainment and recognition success; it shows off good coordination with the dramas.

Contrary to this, we can hear the news about the animated popular dramas often. Animation ‘Dream of Janggeum’ for children is a good example of one of the successful animated dramas.

On the 22th, according to the related industry, animations that target to become the second ‘Dream of Janggeum’ sent an expedition and it caught our attention.

First, animation ‘TWSSG (Legend)’ has plans to broadcast the first part of this year and launched its production.

‘TWSSG’, Bae Yong Joon, Moon So Ri, and Lee Ji Ah played as the main characters, achieved 30% viewing rates in 2007 and played an important role in the historical drama fever. It was such a popular drama that it created its own genre, ‘Fantasy Fusion Historical Drama’, and it was a completely different category to that of the existing historical dramas. Last year, the production of animation of ‘TWSSG’ was announced and it became a popular topic.

GNG Entertainment (ceo: Jeong Geukpo), Mix Film (ceo: Ryu, Hee Jeong), and Neo of Japan are producing ‘TWSSG’ together. It is known that it consists of 26 episodes and a total of 3.6 billion Won was invested in the production costs.

Damdeok (King Gwanggato) was the main character in the original drama, but Georyeon (King Jangsoo), Damdeok’s son, is the main character in the animation. It shows the adventures in which Georyeon and the four gods fight against the forces that threaten Korea.

When GNG Entertainment made the contract they said they’ll use unique computer graphics and special techniques and it has heightened its expectation. They have experience in the Japanese market through the animation ‘I’m sorry, I love you.’ In 2006.

Winter Sonata’ played a major role in the Hallyu fever. Its animation will be broadcasting domestically and ‘Studio, Meditate with Pencil’, which is famous for ‘Dinosaur and I’, is handling its production.

‘Winter Sonata’ describes the 10 years story from the high school days of Joonsang and Yujin who are the main characters of the drama with beautiful color. When they started its production, the fact that Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo who were the main characters of drama took the role of the voice actors became a topic of conversation.

Its broadcasting started in Japan last year and in the last episode, the scenes in which Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo appear will be broadcasted in April. Domestically, it’ll be broadcasted in the first part of this year.
