Lotte Co. announced on Jan. 5th that they will open Lotte City Hotel Kinshicho in Sumida Ward, Tokyo on April 6th. Their group company runs a luxury hotel in Seoul, however, this will be their first move to hotel business in Japan. Emphasizing its uniqueness by setting up guest rooms with the character of their main product in confectionery: Koala’s March they aim to invite tourists and businessmen.

Lotte City Hotel Kinshicho is being constructed in front of Kinshicho Station of JR and Tokyo Metro, with 19 floors above ground and 2 below. It has 213 guest rooms of 9 types. Besides to meet the demand of businessmen in central Tokyo, the hotel also targets the tourists to Tokyo Disney Resort (Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture) and to “Tokyo Sky Tree”, a tower under construction in Sumida Ward.

The hotel’s concept is [Tokyo Sweet Stay] which is totally appropriate to the confectionery maker.

It includes two Koala’s March rooms and a chocolate theme café restaurant [Charlotte Chocolate Factory] in order to [provide sweet and welcoming amusement, flavor, and healing.] (according to Lotte Co.)

In the hotel a Korean restaurant "Goshireh Fua", produced by a Korean Wave Star Mr. Bae Yung Joon, will open.

Tokyo’s hotel market has seen a series of advances by luxury hotels from overseas for the past few years, however, because of the recession by the financial crisis the number of hotel guests has declined and is still suffering badly.

Lotte City Hotel Kinshicho, while bringing in the luxury images and service know-how from Lotte Seoul Hotel, sets the room charge at rather low rate from 13,000 yen per person (tax included).

Their strategy is to stimulate new demand in downtown Tokyo.“
